About Dustin Holden
I’m a career CFO. Before that I was a manufacturing cost accountant — the person in a factory who knows, to the penny, what it costs to make one part. And I’ve run mowers myself: loaded the trailer, burned the daylight, invoiced the work. Profit Engine is those three jobs pointed at one problem — operators who work a full season and can’t find the money.
Where the method comes from
In a factory, nothing ships at a guessed price. Every part carries its fully-loaded labor, its machine time, and its share of the building’s overhead before anyone talks price. That discipline is called cost accounting, and it’s the reason factories don’t go broke by accident.
A mowing crew is a small factory on wheels, and the same math applies. A $22 wage is really $29.04 an hour once employer taxes and comp are loaded on, $34.85 per billable hour once drive time eats its share, and about $48 once the shop, the trucks, and the insurance ride along. If you’ve never watched that stack get built layer by layer, start with what a crew hour actually costs.
How I work
Profit Engine is one person: me. No junior staff, no hand-offs, no black boxes. I rebuild every job in your book at fully-loaded cost — labor with burden, materials, overhead allocated per crew hour — using plain arithmetic you can check against your own payroll and invoices. Deterministic cost accounting: same inputs, same answer, every time. The sample report shows exactly what comes back.
What I sell
| Engagement | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Profit X-Ray | $1,500 | Your top 20 jobs at true cost, three biggest leaks named. One week. Credits in full toward the Audit if you continue. Buy now. |
| Profit Engine Audit | $4,500 | Full book repriced at fully-loaded cost, delivered in 30 days. Finds more margin than it costs, or full refund. |
| Retainer | $1,950/mo | Ongoing job-cost review and bid pricing after the audit. |
Every tier is self-service — buy online from the pricing section, no sales call required.
The audit hands you the pieces the guides walk through: a repriced rate card, a kill, keep, or reprice call on every client, and a winter cash plan built from your real trough — not a rule of thumb.
What I don’t do
Bookkeeping and tax. I read your books; I don’t keep them. Your bookkeeper and your CPA stay exactly where they are.
